18.2 A.C. Generator
An alternating current (A.C) generator is a device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy using electromagnetic induction. It consists of a rectangular coil placed between the poles of a permanent magnet. The coil is connected to two slip rings, which rotate along with the coil, while carbon brushes remain fixed and maintain contact with the slip rings.
