Theory of Intelligence ("TOI", "we", "our", or "us") is an open-access first-principles STEM and AI education platform. We design our educational software to minimize data collection. We do not sell student data, we do not build advertising tracking profiles, and we believe educational resources should be freely accessible without tracking surveillance.
2. Information We Collect
- Newsletter Subscriptions: If you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address solely to deliver research articles, lab releases, and syllabus updates. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click.
- Client-Side Local Storage: Practice exercises, code runs, and interactive simulator states (e.g., Pyodide code snippets and WebGL simulator parameters) are processed locally in your browser memory and LocalStorage. They are not transmitted or stored on our servers.
- Aggregated Privacy-Centric Analytics: We collect non-personally identifiable diagnostic metrics (browser type, general country, visited lesson slugs) to identify server performance bottlenecks and improve curriculum quality.
3. Third-Party Services & AI In-Browser Execution
Our interactive Python sandbox uses Pyodide (WebAssembly), meaning code runs directly on your computer's processor without sending your code to remote execution virtual machines.
When interacting with the optional TOI AI Tutor, requests are sent to secured AI endpoints (Google Gemini API) to generate pedagogical answers. Conversations are not used for public model training.
4. Cookies & Tracking
We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. Any session tokens or cookies utilized are strictly functional and essential for site security and CSRF prevention.
5. Student & Minor Privacy
Our board curriculum and STEM academy serve students across secondary and intermediate grades (Class 9th–12th). We do not collect names, school identities, or personal profiles from minor students.
