Introduction

Discrete random variables and PMFs, continuous random variables and PDFs, CDFs, and joint distributions.

Introduction

Outcomes like "heads" or "a picture of a cat" are hard to compute with. A random variable turns outcomes into numbers, so we can add, average and differentiate. Depending on whether those numbers are countable or continuous, we describe them with a probability mass function or a probability density function.

Discuss theoretical concepts, mathematical formulas, and architectural foundations.
