Introduction

Rotation matrices in 2D, 3D and n dimensions (Givens rotations), and their properties.

Introduction

A rotation turns every vector by the same angle around the origin without changing lengths or angles. Rotations are the orthogonal matrices with determinant +1+1. They appear in robotics and graphics, in data augmentation, in aligning embeddings across languages, and in the rotary position embeddings (RoPE) used by modern large language models.
