3.1.1 Replication

Streaming replication keeps a standby almost in sync. Async is faster for the primary; sync waits for the standby (safer, slower).

Why it matters

A single disk is not a durability story. Replicas are also your HA and analytics source.

How it is used

Pick async vs sync from your RPO. Monitor replication slots and disk. Test failover; untested replicas are fiction.

Discuss theoretical concepts, mathematical formulas, and architectural foundations.
