Introduction

Differentiating implicit equations where y cannot be easily solved in terms of x.

Introduction

An equation in xx and yy of the form F(x,y)=0F(x, y) = 0 defines yy as an implicit function of xx. Instead of explicitly solving for y(x)y(x), we differentiate both sides with respect to xx, treating yy as a differentiable function of xx.
