8.1 Understanding Emerging Technologies
Emerging technologies refer to advanced innovations that are transforming how people live, work, and communicate. Technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, and Blockchain are reshaping industries and creating smarter systems for managing data, automation, and connectivity (as shown in Figure 8.1). These technologies drive innovation across healthcare, education, transportation, and agriculture, making processes faster and more efficient. Understanding emerging technologies is vital in today's digital age. They offer new solutions to global and local challenges but also introduce issues such as data security, ethical concerns, and dependence on automation. By learning about these technologies, individuals can better understand their potential, prepare for future developments, and use them to improve society responsibly.
