Solution

Find the maximum or minimum point by sketching the following quadratic functions. Also find their domain and range:

Solution

For f(x)=ax2+bx+cf(x)=ax^2+bx+c, the vertex occurs at:

x=h=−b2a x=h=-\frac{b}{2a}

and the corresponding value is k=f(h)k=f(h). The vertex is:

(h,k) (h,k)

Domain of any quadratic polynomial is R\mathbb{R}.

Range depends on whether the parabola opens up (a>0a>0) or down (a<0a<0).
