Solution

Explain how the `insert()` function works in python lists. Provide an example.

Solution

The insert() function adds a new item at a chosen position in a list. You give the index where the item should go, then the item itself. Existing items at that index and after it shift to the right.

PYTHON
party_list = ["Buy drinks", "Buy decorations", "Buy snacks", "Buy cold drinks"]
party_list.insert(0, "Invite friends") # add Invite friends at start
print(party_list)
# Output: ["Invite friends", "Buy drinks", "Buy decorations", "Buy snacks", "Buy cold drinks"]

Here "Invite friends" is inserted at index 00, so it becomes the first item.
