12.2 Addition Law of Probability

(i) If AA and BB are any two non mutually exclusive events then

P(A∪B)=P(A)+P(B)−P(A∩B)P(A \cup B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A \cap B)

(ii) If AA and BB are any two mutually exclusive events then

P(A∪B)=P(A)+P(B)P(A \cup B) = P(A) + P(B)
