  • (x+iy)2=(x2−y2)+2xy i(x+iy)^2=(x^2-y^2)+2xy\,i.
  • If x+iy=a+bix+iy=a+bi, then x=ax=a and y=by=b.
  • To simplify a fraction a+bic+di\dfrac{a+bi}{c+di}, multiply numerator and denominator by c−dic-di.
